The Great Awakening: Shut the Door and Claim Your Reality
Picture New York City in 1931. Dust hangs heavy in the air. Job lines wrap around city blocks. Jazz clubs echo a muted worry as America gasps for breath, its lungs full of fear, its heartbeat slowed by scarcity. Inside one small New York lecture hall, something extraordinary is happening.
A young man soul bruised by disillusionment with Rosicrucian studies and pockets empty, steps quietly into a room. His name is Neville Goddard, and within moments, everything about his life will change. Not through a paycheck, but through the words of an Ethiopian Jewish mystic named Abdullah, who will hand him the key to bending reality with Imagination.
Neville Meets Abdullah: The Teaching of Imagination
Neville known for being late, kstood in confusion as he entered the lecture hall, and observed the speaker looking at him without flinching.
“The brothers told me you would come. You’re late, but right on time.”
That man was Abdullah, a black Jewish Ethiopian rabbi, a man with no books, no fanfare, and no need for approval. His gift? The unshakable knowing that reality bends to the Imagination of the disciplined soul.
Shut the Door on Your Outer Senses: You are already that which you want to be.
That introduction was the beginning of an apprenticeship between Neville and Abdullah. Day after day, week after week, month after month, Neville learned how to penetrate the veil and tap into Imagination and the Creative Mind of the Universe.
Years later, Neville’s teachings would be linked to the New Thought Movement, influenced by Judge Thomas Troward and the visionary poet-artist William Blake. Neville’s most radical initiation came from Abdullah who dared to teach that “man is not separate from God. He is the very expression of the Divine in form”, and the world of expression and experience is formed through specific patterns, governed by Universal Law.
This teaching still considered radical not because it was implausible as some have suggested but because it was too powerful. It bypassed priests, rabbis, gurus, logic, and the institutions that feed on people’s fear.
The core of it?
God and man are one. Imagining creates reality.
The Bank of Imagination and the Art of “Shutting the Door”
Abdullah taught Neville to shut the door on his outer senses, not just physically, but mentally.
This meant entering the Realm of the Wondrous, and Bank of Imagination and using inner faculties to imagine in vivid detail, the thing desired as if it were already fulfilled. Once claimed, it was done. No revisiting. No “checking.” No doubting.
Why? Because every moment you doubt, you return to lack, you re-open the door onto the past, mass consciousness and let doubt back into the room.
The Barbados Story: First-Class Manifestation
Neville’s test with the teaching came when he wanted to return home to Barbados for Christmas and join all his siblings to celebrate the festive season, only Neville had no money. He complained to Abdullah, that he was broke, and Abdullah, rather than express empathy or sympathy, refused to descend to the level of Neville’s belief system, and state of consciousness. Abdullah understood that it was for Neville to rise in consciousness Instead he bluntly told him:
“You are already in Barbados. You went first class.”
Every time Neville brought up the topic of lack again, Abdullah ended the conversation abruptly, even slamming the door in his face. Why? Because in Abdullah’s mind, the matter was settled. He held to the vision and the reality that Neville had gone to Barbados, and he had traveled first class.
This set Neville’s 3-D mindset into a tailspin. He was still looking at life from the outside in, from the State of Consciousness of lack and limitation. And so Neville wandered the streets of New York, hoping to find ways to fill his empty pockets. Nothing worked. Often he would return to Abdullah, but Abdullah, like any good imagist would have none of it. He knew better than descend to the level of lack for the purpose of conversation. The image was done.
Weeks later, Neville received a check from his brother and a third-class ticket. When he excitedly shared the news, Abdullah repeated:
“I told you, you went first class,” And he slammed the door in Neville’s face.
On the day of sailing, Neville was greeted by a steward with the news that a cancellation had occurred, and he was bumped into a first-class cabin exactly as Abdullah declared.
This was an important lesson for Neville in understanding the difference between the reasoning Mind, and the Power of Imagination, Intention, Intuition, Belief, Emotion and proper use of setting forces into motion using Universal Law.
The 3 Steps to Manifesting from the Bank of Imagination
Step 1: Claim Your Spiritual Birthright. Absolute Declaration
Don’t wish. Don’t try. Claim and the fulfillment of your dream. Then use the Power of your Word, Declare that the reality of your dream is already yours. Speak it like you speak your own name. No gap. No hesitation.
Example:
“I now have my own rich, dependable, steady income, consistent with integrity right. I attract “happy money”.
“I understand that the source of money, wealth and riches flows to me via Divine Activity, the Living Spirit of Plenty, the Source of all supply.”
“My work is in demand, and I am highly paid, and I feel grateful.”
“Wonderful, creative offers, and opportunities for greater self-expression and financial compensation are coming to me on a consistent basis and I’m constantly celebrating.”
“I have $1.000,000 in my bank account.”
“ Today is the most successful day of my life.”
“I am living a charmed, rich, rewarding, happy and harmonious lifestyle. My dreams are effortlessly manifesting.”
Keep in mind that you are not reciting affirmations. You are thinking from the outcome. You are stating facts of your experience to yourself.
Step 2: Shut the Door
Anchor the metaphysical to the physical by closing the door of your mind, first. Keep increasing your understanding that when you uplift into the state of consciousness, called wealth and prosperity, you choose to shut the door on all appearances of lack.
The key is to concentrate and feel the reality of divine activity and money coming to you on a continual basis from the Bank of Imagination. Supply comes first from Divine Activity.
Then, feel free to support and invest in your new state of consciousness. Should your mind wander, or if you’re challenged by doubt, and wandering mind syndrome, choose to slam a physical door much the same way that Abdullah slammed the door in Neville’s face door after he stated, “you are in Barbados, and you went first class .” No mulling it over. No doubts interacting with your self-talk. Simply complete acceptance of the reality of the Causal plane of existence. Neuroscientists confirm this physical act creates a kinesthetic anchor, which acts as a command to the subconscious: This reality is sealed.
Step 3: Feel the Flow. Invest in Silence
Do not discuss your dream with others. Not with friends, not with family, not even with yourself. Rather than engage in monkey mind chatter, celebrate, acknowledge and recognize the truth that imagining creates reality. Deepen your trust, and faith in the Power of Imaginal Actions because Every “check-in” on your dream seed is “looking back” on not having it. When you allow your attention to wander into “where is it”, “When is it coming”? “How is it coming”? “I thought it would be here by right now”, you are exhibiting a leak in the container of faith. You are on the “ways and means committee”.
Why The Imaginal Dynamic Works — The Quantum Connection
In quantum theory, the observer effect shows that reality responds to your perception. What you perceive you believe. What you observe with certainty crystallizes into form. What you imagine you become, and what you feel, you attract. Faith is loyalty to unseen reality, not hope or wishing.
When Neville stopped asking “how” and began living as though it were true, reality had no choice but to manifest right results.

Slam the door on lack and limitation.
If your mind wanders, find a physical door, a kitchen cabinet, a bathroom door, any door.
Speak your desire as already fulfilled.
Close the door and the gap of belief decisively.
go live as if it’s already manifested. Speak no doubt. Expect in silence.
Because here’s the truth:
You don’t get what you want, you get what you imagine and feel to be true
So, claim and feel wealthy.
Claim and feel healthy and harmonious.
Claim and feel you are loved, loving and lovable.
And shut the door on every suggestion that challenges the fulfillment of your dream.
Never close the door on a dream, your dreams are calling you.
